Farewells – 2023
It’s important that the community are informed well in advance that two of our Foundation teaching staff members will be leaving Ashdale Primary at the end of 2023.
Mrs Hilary O’Brien will be retiring after an outstanding career and Mrs Michelle Dempster has been merit selected to a position at Wembley Primary School.
I’m sure the community will ensure their final term at Ashdale Primary is memorable.
Classroom Planning – 2024
An important planning task for the end of 2023, is the compilation of the 2024 classroom groupings. We include the involvement of the students in this process by asking them to list 4-5 friends who they would like to be in their classroom in 2024. The students will be asked to complete this task in the near future.
Past experiences have shown us that when parents discuss this process with their children, the friend selections are balanced, and considered.
Secondary Enrolments – 2025
If your year five student is keen on looking at alternative secondary opportunities in 2025, please keep abreast of all information available online.

Please note that Ashdale Primary does not facilitate either of these processes.

Chaplain Chat
It is term 4! A favourite term for many as we look forward to exciting events, excursions and celebrations nearing the end of the school year. My hope is that all our precious students will have wonderful new learning experiences during this last term, reach their potential and that friendships would flourish as the year draws to a close.
I would like to take this opportunity to promote the Lord Mayor's Christmas Appeal 2023:
Each year the City of Wanneroo conducts the Mayor's Christmas Appeal to assist members of our community who are currently facing hardship. Many local schools participate, and Ashdale PS is supporting the event this year! We will place donation boxes on display in the co-labs of the different blocks in our school from week beginning 30th October and will be collecting donations of non-perishable food items or gifts, from our school community. (Monetary donations or gift cards can NOT be accepted.) The items will be collected the week beginning 27th November. All donations received will be distributed to those who are doing it tough within the Wanneroo Community. Please consider supporting this event.
Inspirational quote for Term 4:
“In the end, it’s not the years in your life that count. It’s the life in your years.”

Community Gardening Club
At the end of last term, students in the Community Garden Gardening Club harvested the potatoes they had planted and been caring for each Thursday lunchtime with Mrs Schneider. The students worked together to harvest, clean and wash the crop.
They harvested enough to make wedges to share together in the Yarning Circle and for the enthusiastic gardeners to take a few home to share with their families.
They were delicious! We look forward to welcoming students to the Gardening Club.

SCHOOL VOLUNTARY CONTRIBUTIONS (including P & C Contribution)
Have you paid the voluntary contribution $60/student and P & C Levy $40/family?
We encourage payments via the Qkr! app – this is a very simple and quick process and alleviates the need for busy parents to come into the office or send money in with students.
Instructions on how to download the App are available on our website from the link below or see the Qkr! Tip article below.
- Remember to change the profile (year, LAs etc) for your children when first accessing Qkr! for the year
- Alternative payment methods (cash/eftpos/credit card) are available through the front office.
- Families may pay the Voluntary Contribution in instalments.

P&C News
The end of Term 3 and the beginning of Term 4 have been a busy time for the P&C and our wonderful volunteers. On Thursday 21st of September all students participated in our second ever colour run, and what a fantastic event it was for everyone. An amazing effort from our students and cape wearing champions with fundraising bringing in a grand total of $14,259.50 towards building our new ninja course play area. A massive thank you to all of the staff and teachers for allowing participation and organising the children on the day.
The Canteen Menu has changed over for summer and all items are available to view and order via QKR. We value feedback on our canteens food options so please keep a look out for a survey coming out in November – there will be prizes for your participation!
One of our favourite days on the calendar is celebrating our hardworking Teachers, EA’s, Support Staff and Admin for World Teacher’s Day. On Friday the 13th October an amazing morning tea was put on in the staff room, provided by our generous volunteers.
Our 2023 Disco was a great success, again with the support of our valuable volunteers before the event and on the night. Local businesses including Darch IGA, Big W, First Choice Variety Darch, Bunnings, Chips on a Stick, and Precision Formatting along with some personal support from councillor Nat Herridge & the Velicovski family. It was great to see all the kids having such fun getting their dancing groove on!
Box Art Framing, regular supporters of the P&C have offered a percentage of all sales of their school years frames to the P&C.
The frames are cut to suit the sizes of the photo packages available at Ashdale PS. Orders can be placed on Qkr! throughout the term. They are currently on display in the library.
If you would like to know more about what it means to join the P&C, please reach out to our team at pandc.ashdaleps@outlook.com
The next P&C Meeting will be held on Tuesday 21st November, 7pm.
