Keyboard

Keyboard lessons are available on Monday afternoons in the Music Room. Lessons are conducted through Primary Music Institute.  Parents can read more about the program at https://www.primarymusicinstitute.com.au/.

Russel Smith is the current PMI teacher and has been teaching Guitar and Keyboard to students for over 15 years at Primary and High School (ATAR) levels. Russell also teaches in the Catholic schools education system and for a private music school.  

There are typically 5 students to a class, with 4 classes being offered after school during the term. Students are taught individually and as a group.  Lessons involve both theory and practical keyboard skills. Drums

Drums are taught on Tuesday afternoons in the Music Room by Ryan Daunt.  Ryan is a Graduate of WAAPA Performing Arts and an experienced drum teacher. He has played in a number of gigs at Perth Concert Hall, the Royal Show, with WAYJO Swing and WAYJO Big Band, including a performance for Prince Edward at the Duke of Edinburgh Ceremony at Crown Casino. He has also performed at international jazz festivals, including in Memphis, US. Ryan has most recently completed his Masters in Jazz Performance at WAAPA and has been appointed to the WAYJO Big Band.  You can view his work at www.ryandaunt.com.

Contemporary Guitar

Contemporary guitar is taught on Thursdays after school, in the Delta block wet area by Ben Griffith.  Ben is a jazz guitar player and performer with a Bachelor’s degree in Jazz, and a Certificate IV and Diploma in Contemporary Music from Perth, Australia. He has a wide range of experience from performing in musicals, jazz and contemporary ensembles and bands, recording sessions, and original music. In addition to this, he teaches students ranging from Kindergarten to adult. Ben has experience teaching at various schools and with private students, and can teach different areas of music such as rock, blues, jazz, beginner classical, funk, RnB, pop and also music theory and aural skills.
